In DT, Year 4 have been learning more about cooking and nutrition. We looked at what constitutes a healthy and varied diet. We also explored how food is grown, reared and caught in the UK, Europe and the wider world.
We then prepared and baked an apple pie safely safely and hygienically. We developed our cooking skills by mixing ingredients, kneading dough and baking.
Children had to first measuring out ingredients. They then mixed and kneaded to form a large ball of dough. having placed this in the fridge, children peeled and cut apples into a bowl. Here they added cinnamon, sugar and apple juice. Children then rolled out the dough added the apple filling and stuck it in the oven. After 20 minutes children were ready to dig in!
