We would like to wish you Ramadan Mubarak from Year 3. In Year 3 we have been doing lots of activities based around this special month. We have been looking into the value of generosity and focussing on the Pure Wife of the Prophet Zainab bint Khuzayma. Year 3 gathered information to write a biography on her, mentioning her achievements and why she was known as Umm al Masakin (The Mother of the Poor). They produced some fantastic work and really enjoyed creating their biographies.

In English we have read Ramadan Moon by Na’ima B Roberts and the children have loved using this as an inspiration to base their work around. They are sharing some amazing ideas and also sharing what they do in the month of Ramadan.

We also wrote verses of a poem in groups that were based on a theme of Ramadan, which we collated together and made a class poem. Year 3 were amazing at using the poetic techniques they have learnt and applying it to create verses for their poems.

Year 3 are practising hard for a Ramadan play that will be based on the value of generosity. They are practicing this performance in the style of a reader’s theatre in the last week before the Ramadan break. There are some very talented and expressive children in year 3 and we cannot wait to see the children perform the play.
