The nursery children acted out the core story of this term which was the all time classic ‘The Rainbow Fish.’ We read through the story, learnt new words and acted out as the story characters.  They learnt the importance of sharing with others. This story encouraged us to think about how one feels when they are lonely. The children had the opportunity to ask ‘The Rainbow Fish’ character how he felt when no fish were playing with him and he was left alone. One of the children (who acted as ‘The Rainbow Fish’) said ‘I felt sad’.
This story is a great link to one of the Five Principles of Islam ‘Charity’. Our religion teaches us to think about others and share what ever we have. At Iqra this is our core aim to build this thinking in our future generations to be kind and generous to help others regardless of any faith and ethnicity.
