Hadith of the Week
Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “There are no omens, but the best of it is optimism.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, what is optimism?” The Prophet said, “A righteous word one of you hears.”
In another narration, the Prophet said, “I am amazed by optimism, the good word, the kind word.”

RSHE Parents Meeting
We had a successful parent’s meeting today introducing the new relationship, sex and health education. The headteacher explained to parents the approach that Iqra will be taking in teaching this topic in the light of our religious faith. Parents looked at the units of work that the children will be covering such as online safety, families, relationships, personal health and feelings.
Parents were supportive with the approach and found the session useful. The policy will be published on the school website in due course.
Assalamu alaykum and welcome back.
It has been four weeks since we started term and it has been a busy term. The children have all settled into their new classes and have already made a lot of progress in their learning. You can find out more about what your children are learning by visiting the class pages.
Since the restrictions of covid have been lifted, we are coming back to a more familiar Iqra whilst still maintaining some routines in place. Bubbles are now gone and there is freer movement around the school, although we are still encouraging hand sanitising, ensuring good hygiene through cleaning regimes, and keeping spaces well ventilated.
We are happy to say that-alhumdulillah-we have not had any reported cases of covid amongst our staff and children.
Rules have slightly changed which means that if there is a confirmed case then only the child or adult needs to isolate. Close contacts do not need to isolate as long as they are fully vaccinated, nor young people below the age of 18 years and 6 months.
Trips are also being planned for the children. We hope this continues and that our communities are kept safe and in good health.

Chromebooks for children
Does your child have their own computer?
Iqra is dedicated to ensuring that all our children have access to learning so that no child is left behind because of their circumstances. Last year in the face of covid, we successfully gave each of our children a chromebook to ensure that their learning was not affected.
We are now providing children with laptops to ensure that children have no barriers to their learning.
All of our homework is now online and children need direct access to google classroom. Some of our pupils are doing their homework on parent’s phones, tablets or having to share their sibling’s laptops. We can solve this situation through a loaned laptop from Iqra.
To apply fill in the online form (check your text message), pay your deposit on parentpay and you’re done. We will contact you soon to pick up your chromebook.
This half term our value is Optimism. Children have been learning about what optimism is and how Muslims are optimistic. They have been listening to stories on optimism in their Islamic Studies lessons and in their assemblies.
