Eat them to defeat them
Iqra primary school participated in the ‘Eat them to defeat them’ campaign. Each class from Year 1 to Year 5 performed either a fantastic vegetable poem or rap in assembly. Children were given ‘Eat them to defeat them’ activity packs and stickers. Today, children were very excited as they used their DT session to make a vegetable dish. Year 1 made smoothies using spinach. Year 2 made sandwiches using lettuce, cucumber, sweetcorn and tomatoes. Year 4 made vegetable saute wraps and Year 5 made stuffed peppers using Mexican spicy rice, sweetcorn, peas and cheese. All children from these classes were very enthusiastic and eager to take part in this cooking activity. Children showed great communication skills and followed the recipes given to them. Despite being apprehensive about some vegetables, children enjoyed eating vegetables and dishes that they hadn’t tasted before.
