What are we learning this Spring?

Literacy

This half term children are super excited to be learning about one of their favourite book characters… The Gruffalo! The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson and Axel Schiffler is a story book loved by people of all ages… yes even us teachers!  Children will be performing the story as well as indulging in a variety of writing activities, we cannot wait to share these with you.

Geography

How are we different from other people? … Is a question we will be asking in our Geography lessons this half term. Children will be exploring human and physical geography and undertake a small area study comparing the UK and Australia.

D&T

In Year One we will be very lucky to have a wealth of hands on exploration this half term. We are extremely privileged to be working with ”The STEM Workshop’. During these workshops children will be making their own moving toys using various mechanisms such as axels, pivots, pulleys.

Maths

Year one are really enjoying using their ‘Maths No Problem’ workbooks. Over the next few weeks we will be focusing on chapters 13, 14 and 15 which include multiplication, division, fractions and numbers to 100!
