Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome to the Nursery class! I hope that you have had an enjoyable summer and would like to
extend a warm welcome to you all. The children have settled very well and we have had a great first
week getting to know each other.

The Nursery Staff are as follows:

Nursery times:       Morning Nursery 8:20-11:20 am
Afternoon Nursery 12:20-3:20 pm

Topic: Our topic this half term is ‘Our wonderful selves’, This topic will cover the seven areas of learning: Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development, Communication and Language, Reading and Writing, Expressive Arts and Design, Mathematics and Understanding of the World.

To cover this topic we will read ‘Owl Babies’ as our core book. They will learn themselves as an individual, it will support them to understand their personalities, what they like or dislike. The children will learn the names of their body parts through singing action songs, drawing and painting their own portraits. In small groups we will discuss their families for example, how many family members he/she has? How many siblings?  Children will learn the names of different relations e.g. grandma, granddad, uncle…

Furthermore, to develop Personal, Social and Emotional development we will also be reading 

stories and playing games about learning, sharing and using kind hands to help others.

 

How You Can Help

Bring in any stories or books about our topic that we can share in class.
Go to the library with your child and read stories of the ‘All About Me’ together.

Talk to your child about immediate and extended family. 

Encourage sharing and waiting for their turn.

Encourage your child to tidy up their own toys.
Please encourage your child to dress up independently. 

Please do not send your child wearing laces shoes, this may cause an accident. 

Tarbiya

Children will recite Surah Faatiha and knowledge dua every day and will practice saying Salaams and JazakAllah to each other. Please encourage your child at home to practice these manners.

Insha’Allah over the year we are aiming to memories four last Surahs.

 

 

 

Book Changing

By the end of auntumn 1, your child will receive a storybook to take home to read and then return. You will be provided with a logbook to record each time they change the book. Encourage your child to read. Reading the text and talking about the pictures together helps them to learn new words every day.

 

 

PE day: Tuesday

Please dress your child with a correct PE kit, white T-shirt and blue bottom.

 

 

 

Recycling

We always need small boxes, tubes, yoghurt pots, small plastic bottles, ribbons and material for our junk modelling. Please bring in anything you can find at home.

 

Weather

Your child is outdoors during the day whatever the weather. So make sure they wear their correct uniforms. 

 

Accidents
Some children do have accidents during the day and we sometimes need to change their clothes. Please have a complete change of clothes in school in a named bag.
