This year at Iqra we have implemented the zones of regulation which has proven to be a valuable tool for promoting emotional awareness and self-regulation among students.
These zones, typically represented by different colours, categorise emotions into distinct zones: the green zone for calm and focused states, the yellow zone for heightened alertness or excitement, the blue zone for low-energy or sad feelings, and the red zone for intense anger or anxiety.
The main purpose for implementing these zones is to provide students with a common language to express and understand their emotions, encouraging empathy and self-control. By teaching students to recognise and manage their emotional states, we can empower them to navigate the complex social and academic challenges of the classroom, promoting a positive and useful learning environment for all.
